[ARCHIVED] RIPTA Federal Highway Administration Safe Streets and Roads for All Program

Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) secured funding through the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program to manage a statewide safety process that will result in 32 community safety action plans.

The Town of New Shoreham is a participating community and a Safety Action Plan will be developed for New Shoreham through this work. The Safety Action Plan will establish guidelines to implement safer streets and prepare New Shoreham with approaches to known and emerging safety and mobility challenges – for all modes of transportation. The plan will help identify priority projects and position New Shoreham for continued federal implementation funding.

Engagement kicked off this summer with an online survey which will be open through the end of September and there will be outreach at the grocery store (11:00 am-1:00 pm) and at Nicholas Ball Park, near Harbor Church and the Island Bound Bookstore (3:00 pm -5:00 pm) on September 9 (*subject to change depending on weather).

Please check the project webpage to track engagement opportunities and to complete the online survey and online participation map (which will be open through the end of September):
