The Town and Block Island Health Services are collaborating on a comprehensive initiative to address tick-borne illnesses. This long-term effort will require the support and participation of our entire community.

A critical component of our strategy is gathering data regarding Alpha-gal syndrome diagnoses. Because residents receive medical care both on and off-island, there is currently no single data source available to determine the local impact of this condition.

If you have tested positive for Alpha-gal, please respond to our brief confidential survey Alpha-gal survey to share your diagnosis and the date it was confirmed. We will also be sharing this request on the Block Island Bulletin Board, websites, and via our social media channels to reach as many people as possible.
