The Town Planner is primarily responsible for:
- General comprehensive and long-range planning efforts
- Coordination of planning projects and policies related to the implementation of the New Shoreham Comprehensive Plan
- Reviewing or drafting amendments to local land use ordinances
- Attendance at meetings of the Planning Board
- Reviewing subdivision and/or development applications submitted to the Planning Board

New Shoreham 2016 Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range land use plan and policy document which serves as a guide to future development on Block Island. The 2016 Update was a multi-year effort led by the Planning Board. The Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the Town Council in November of 2016 and received State approval in March of 2017.
