Mopeds
Some rental moped regulations include helmet requirements, roads regulations, and hours for rentals.

Bicycle Rental Licenses
Any person, firm or corporation hiring out, renting or leasing bicycles to any members of the general public must obtain a license from the Town Clerk.

New Businesses / Business Name (Fictitious Name)
Anyone operating a business must register their business name at the Town Clerk’s Office.

Commercial Shellfish Licenses
Commercial Shellfish licenses are issued annually and expire on December 31st of each year.

Hawkers & Peddlers Licenses
The Town of New Shoreham issues Hawkers and Peddlers licenses.

Game License
Game Licenses are issued annually to all businesses that have table games (pool, billiards, foosball, etc.) or gaming devices (video games, pinball, etc.) available to the public.

Motor Vehicle for Hire Licenses
The Town of New Shoreham regulates and licenses all chauffeurs, taxis, buses and limousines operating on Block Island.

Rental Room License
The Town of New Shoreham issues Rental Room licenses to people who rent, by the day or the week, up to two rooms in their owner-occupied homes.

Alcoholic Beverage Licenses
The Board of License Commissioners addresses all alcoholic beverage licenses for the Town of New Shoreham. They act on renewals and new applications in November of each year.

Rooming House License
Any person or corporation who is renting 3 or more rooms to persons who are not members of their immediate family is required to file an application for Rooming House License, which includes boarding houses, inns and hotels.

Outdoor Entertainment
Outdoor entertainment is only allowed at business establishments through the issuance of an Outdoor Entertainment license.

Victualing License
Any person who operates a restaurant, bakery shop, coffee shop, oyster house or victualing house within the town must annually obtain a victualing license from the Town Clerk’s office.
