New Harbor
With its entrance located on the west side of Block Island, New Harbor (also known as Great Salt Pond) is one of the most popular harbors in the Northeast, attracting over 1,5000 boats on any given day in the summer. Hail the Harbormaster on VHF Channel 12 as you enter the harbor for assistance.
Anchorage
Permitted anchorage is east of the main navigation channel.
You are not allowed to anchor in the Town mooring field, within 100 feet of a commercial dock, on the west side of the harbor, within 50 feet of a residential dock private mooring or moored vessel, in the recreation area, or in the navigation channels and fairways.
Dinghy Dock
There is a public dinghy dock at the end of the main navigation channel past Payne's Dock for dinghies less than 12 feet. There is no overnight dockage, and vessels left for 24 hours will be removed by the Harbormaster and impounded with a $100 fine.

Launch Service
Launch service is available for all transient moorings as well as to/from the anchorage. Contact the launch operator directly for current hours and rates. To request a ride, Hail "Oldport Launch" on VHF Channel 68.
Pumpout
Free pumpout service is available to all vessels in Harbor. Hours of operation are from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. 7 days a week. To request service, Hail "pumpout boat" on VHF Channel 73.
Moorings
Town Rental Moorings
- Town Rental Moorings are first come first serve. We do not take reservations.
- Contact the Harbormaster on VHF Channel 12 for availability when you enter the Pond.Located in the southwest corner of the Great Salt Pond.
- Moorings these mt are light green in color with black numbers can accommodate vessels up to 45 feet. Bright orange moorings are for vessels 46 to 55 feet in length.
- There is a 2 boat maximum use of a mooring at the Harbormaster's discretion.
- Boat fee covers trash trash disposal, pumpout service, and 2 shower tokens
- Payment can be made with cash, check or credit card (MasterCard or Visa).
- Check out time is noon.

Private Moorings
- Contact the Harbormaster on VHF Channel 12 for availability when you enter the Pond.
- Private moorings are white in color with black numbers.
- Only permit holders and designated guests are allowed to use private moorings and cannot be rented out by permit holders.
- Guests must check in with Harbors Department upon arrival.
- Violations are subject to fines and towing in accordance with town ordinances.
Yacht Club Moorings
- Blue in color with black numbers
- Must be a member of the Yacht Club and flying proper burgee
- Violations are subject to fines and towing in accordance with town ordinances.
