The Town of New Shoreham accepts documents for recording Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. We accept recording through the U.S. mail at:

Fee


The Block Island Land Trust charges the purchaser a fee of 3% of the purchase price of all property transactions in New Shoreham. Timeshare transactions only need pay one quarter of the 3% fee.

Block Island Land Trust forms must be recorded with every deed.

Helpful Information for Filling Out Forms


  • The Form A must be filed with every deed.
  • Certificate B is only filed when the transaction is exempt from fees. To determine whether you are entitled to an exemption, download Are You Entitled to an Exemption.
  • Certificate C is filed when a corporation is a party in the transaction.

The fee schedule for filing deeds with Land Trust forms is as follows:

  • Deed $84 for 1st page and $1 for each additional page
  • Certificate A $6
  • Certificate B $1
  • Certificate C $1


The RI Conveyance tax stamp is two dollars and thirty cents ($2.30) for each $500 (or fraction thereof), which is paid in consideration, 

There is an additional tax of two dollars and thirty cents ($2.30) for each $500 (or fraction thereof), for the amount of the consideration paid greater than $800,000.


Checks for recording fees and tax stamps should be made out to the Town of New Shoreham. Checks for the Land Trust fee should be made out to Block Island Land Trust.
